Halloween

The dead meets the living on this very day…
That’s what the legends say.

The ghosts and spirits wake up from the graves,
ramble around the human enclaves.

The witches on brooms fly across the sky,
on moonlit night, someone espy.

Stingy Jack with lantern in his hand,
wanders around, on remand.

It's the month of October, and its last day
marks the end of harvest, legends say.

Pumpkin craved Jack-o-lanterns, on windowsill;
Weirdly-decked houses, uncanny feel.

Fancied up are people, like goblin and ghost,
Vampire, zombies an eerie -land almost.

In ghastly-clad, children in the street,
Rap at every door, “Trick or Treat”.

People observe the day, banish the dread,
Pay homage, memorize the dead.

Fun, frolic and fear, with kith and kin…
This is all about Halloween.
